Kai received a BA in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge in 2012. After graduating he worked as a front-end web developer for a startup before freelancing as a full-stack developer. He then joined Imperial College London in 2013 where he received a MSc in Biomedical Engineering, investigating the role of V1 and MT neurons in optical flow estimation under the supervision of Dr. Bharath. In 2014 he received a Department of Bioengineering PhD studentship to continue research in the BICV group, where he will be investigating deep reinforcement learning for visuomotor control. His areas of research are deep learning, reinforcement learning and computer vision. He is passionate about open source and organises the Deep Learning Network to promote deep learning research within and outside of Imperial.
